Cambridge Analytica’s use of Facebook user data in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Elections created one of the most prominent and high profile controversies the tech sector has ever seen. Fallout has put the policies of SaaS companies, and in particular use of user data on these platforms for marketing purposes, in the public spotlight. Lawmakers in turn wanted answers, even summoning Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to testify in a rather hamstrung joint senate committee hearing this week.
In the aftermath, advertisers are beginning to re-evaluate their ad spends on Facebook and potentially reallocating those budgets elsewhere. One possible channel to become the beneficiary of this reallocation? You guessed it- affiliate, and here’s why.
